This sketch, right here, was the beginning of our journey. The first inkling I had of creating an illustrated hymnal, the first step in becoming Word & Wonder!

The date was September 13, 2018. I had just arrived home from the amazing Getty Sing! Conference, where I had been refreshed and refueled with a love for hymns and the Psalms, and I wanted nothing more than to share that passion with my kids.

So God planted an idea in my head. The world needs an illustrated hymnal. And you can make it.

I knew I couldn’t do it alone, though, so within a few days I emailed my friend Lindsey and asked if she wanted to write a book with me.

And here we are! It’s been a very full four+ years, with lots of ups and downs (including a new baby for each of us and a worldwide pandemic), but we’re ALMOST DONE. I’m gathering copyrights, we’re both madly finishing up writing and illustrating, and we’re going to have the Advance Reader Copies IN HAND in just a few months.

Stay tuned as we share more behind-the-scenes info and gear up for a Kickstarter campaign in the spring. We’ll need your help to spread the word. Most of all we need your prayers. This massive project is only achievable with God’s power and grace. I can’t wait to see what he does with it!
